Default people with AEM EMS got a question for ya (pref MD people)

will your car pass emissions with EMS ? or will they know that you have some sort of standalone... i know if you have like a V-AFC or anything like that you will fail.

I passed with flying colors when I was JRSC'd with Hondata.

If they do a code scan as part of the inspection, you will fail if your car is OBD-anything. EMS does not return any kind of OBD codes, and they will get nothing but an error.

If they do not scan codes as Texas sometimes does, then just tune your car for better emissions, load that map up, make sure the EMS is not visible, and go pass the test.

I believe they only include the ECU in the testing if youre OBD2. They definitely will hook up a code reader and check for errors if thats the case.

i remember when i had my hondata, no-cat, and hks 550's in my si. i failed the first test and the guy told me i failed. I asked him why and he told me it was very technical and I wouldnt understand. I asked again and he told me. I made some changes to the eeprom put it back in the car and passed with flying colors. I think the guys foot is still in his mouth

I know in pa if you are obd2 they will check for codes. But obd1 they just do a visual inspection. If you could find a place that would give your obd2 car a visual inspection then you should be good.

i got emissions here in about 3-4 months, i am most likely not gunna pass, but we will see. All i have to do is pass the sniffer. Last time i didn't even get a visual inspection. They might think somethin's up with a big friggin intercooler out front.
