ok my main question is...can i lose about 1.5 liters of coolant if an air bubble is in the system? Head gasket is not blown......no oil film in resevoir tank and no white smoke out the tail pipe, and no noticeable leaks while idling...after i burped it the last time I sat there for twenty minutes...could'nt see one drop leak. Just did a timing belt/water pump/radiaotor cap/coolant change if you're too lazy to read the story


ok read the jist of the story if you feel like it, if not just give me your suggestion from the previous question.......stock 94 civic ex......just been doing regular maintenance thanks to this site..........i just changed my timing belt, water pump, valve adjustement, radiator cap and coolant. Timing is dead on(made sure not to eff that up and burped the system..maybe not well enough).....drove it for a week around town with no problems...temp gauge worked, heat blows hot.......took it to west virginia this past weekend and after about 200 miles of highway driving i noticed my temp gauge going up......immediately pulled over, popped the hood and it seemed like coolant sprayed every where....my best guess the radiator cap bc you could see stains over the hood and top of radiator.....no white smoke while driving either so must not be an intense spray......filled it up with sum water i brought in a jug just in case.......next day i try burping the system(massage hoses, fan cycle numerous times, heat on full blast, etc, etc) .....drove around west virginia for a few days and no problem again..........drive home to jersey and after another 200 miles besides getting a flat and my spare being flat(thank god for fix a flat) i noticed my guage going up again......filled it back up....drove home for another 200 miles going 60 mph....regular tire was fubar'd......sucked *****....i'm getting a full sized spare.

recap........can an airpocket cause a significant amount of coolant to spray out? I tried burping the system three times and used 2 different radiator caps........and i checked for leaks and can't find any noticeable ones.


any sugestions greatly appreciated.....and i already tried searching.

No. An air bubble will not cause spray. It will cause your motor to overheat, but not spray coolant from the rad.

so you think the radiator is effed up?.........about 137,000 miles on it.......most people will say just change it..... i just want to hear opinions on "this is or that is wrong"....so i learn, that's why i'm here.....going to start with changing the radiator this weekend unless anyone else has got some advice?
