Question about Location of VIN# on Motor of d16y7
Hey I am looking to buy an 97 EK with 86K miles, Since that is really low miiles for that year, I want to check if the VIN number of the motor matches the chassis. Of course I'm also going to CarFax it, but where exactly would the VIN number be on the d16y7?
My friend told me you can see from the hood, and won't have to go under the car?
is this true? can anyone show a picture
thanks!!

the vin plate is located on the back side of the motor. not the front like the tranny
it's located next to the oil filter. I don't remember left or right, but it's next to the filter.
Hope that helps

Re: Question about Location of VIN# on Motor of d16y7
Hey thanks for replying WickedKP, I'm sorry for asking these noob questions. but I am not too familar with the d16y7 even though I had one before, But is there a specific part on the block or somewhere on the engine where the VIN plate is?
I heard there is one under the alternator?
Someone said its next to the oil filiter?
Does anyone know specifically where it would be for d16y7? and would I have to jack the car up?
thanks!

yes you are going to have to jack the car up.
just like doing a oil change.
slide under car. look at oil fitler.
look to the left (driver side) just above the oil pan.
on my 98 it was there.
it might be hard to see with dirt and glunk build up.
