cut it...there is no way around it but to cut it or take it completely off. Depending on how low you plan to go, cutting it half way or more will be necessary. It should be easy to cut with a saw; if it's not, get a new blade. The metal plate comes off, just hit it with a screwdriver or a mallet and remove the bumpstop. Cut the lower 5/8th of the bumpstop off and use the remaining top part. You need to us that plate/washer with your new install anyways.

Exactly!!!
Actually when you cut the dust boot, take a tad bit more off then they said to. As far as the bump stop goes, like madtownhonda said, just hit that metal plate with something, it'll come off.
I used a new razer blade to cut the dust boot, it worked great.
Also, I don't know what kind of car you have, but I have a 00 Si, and I had to grind this little tab off the bottom of the KYB's so the GC sleeve could fit over it. (If you have to do that, it will be in the instrutions)
Good luck...Let us know how the install goes.

i don't know if completely removing it is a good idea. It does serve a purpose, otherwise it wouldn't be there but then again all shocks are internally sealed so it is up to you.

I'm running KYB's with Skunk 2's. I just took the dust covers off and cut the bump stops and was ready to go. No probems so far.

That short 1 1/2" part of the dust cover is left behind locate the top poly spring bushing. Removing it completly might not be the best idea.
