Why won't his VTEC work?
My buddy has a problem with his VTEC. He has a b16 swap in his 97 civic 4 door. He just had the tranny replaced cause he broke the casing on a pothole. Anyways after the new tranny was put in his vtec won't hit and its causing him to redline at 6500. He also has a CEL but Honda can't find what the prob is cause he has a GSR ecu.
What could be the problem?

Re: Why won't his VTEC work? (eTec)
I'd check the new wires that were run for the vtec. Maybe one of them pulled off when he hit the pothole or when they were fixing it. Also, make sure the oil level is ok. If it's too low I believe the vtec won't engage. Those are the only two things I can think of right now. Good luck.

you need to recheck oil/tranny fluid. my friend had this same problem after he replaced his axle. once the tranny has be drained & refilled, it takes a lot more fliud or longer to cycle back through...hope this helps
