Question about distributor
When you go to retard or advance the timing on the distributor, there are 3 bolts to loosen it. When i did mine, i loosened the top one but then found out the two bottom bolts are just about loose enough to move the distributor. Are all three bolts supposed to be tightened like the top one after u set it? i just tightened the top one since thats how it was but im not sure if the other two needs to be tightened. Can someone verify this?

Re: Question about distributor (SkoundrelUSA)
ok, thanks. i hope it doesn't mess up anything because the previous owner had it with just the top bolt tightened and the bottom loose enough to move the dist.

huh? If the distributor is loose timing can def get messed up without having to jump the connector

Re: Question about distributor (SkoundrelUSA)
oh, the distributor isnt loose, it's pretty solid tight with just that one bolt on top. The other two bolts are only tightened enough to contact the dist. surface housing but still loose enough so when u loosen the top one, u can move the dist. for adjustment. I just haven't had time to tighten them since I'm away at college and due to the fact, i have the freakin password intake that takes up the space to reach those bolts. But other than that, the dizzy hasn't moved and the car has no problems running but i do want to tighten them up for sure

Re: Question about distributor (EM1_ChRiS)
eh, just get an open ended 12mm and tighten them up decently. Because oil could also leak. I didn't have a bolt on the side one and was leaking...
