Default ps removal question

i decided to yank all the ps stuff out of the car...

i was planning on just looping the inlet and outlets on the rac and calling it good, but i ran into this...

http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerc...63&prmenbr=361

think its worthwile to tap this into the loop and make it an open system? from what ive searched out, i hear it makes a nice difference. anyone done anything like this, but with a different product? $45 is kinda steep...

thanks!

I am thinking of doing this, but may not be doing it after all, it's free horsepower to begin with, but what if I want to put all those parts back in (actually, I was just going to remove my belt), then the lines will need maintenance, not sure if the pump will work properly from sitting, no way to start it up and run it while I am not using it, the system will have to be bled, the lines, it's starting to seem like it could actually cost money if I want it back in though. This is just a thought, not sure if I am just worrying or whether this really presents a problem in removing the power steering, whether that be belt or the entire system because either way it will not be in use.

My $0.02?

Get the manual rack. I know, expensive and time consuming, but it weighs less than the power rack, and you might be able to get one cheap at a junkyards - oh, sorry "auto recyclers".

definitely get a manual rack...they're not that expensive....yet you'll be glad you did ...keeping the ps rack is nothing but a headache after you take off the ps lines and pump...

Yep, manual rack all the way. Its not that hard to do, and I actually sold my power rack, pump, etc on thepartstrader.com for TWICE what I paid for my manual rack!!!!

Saves weight, WAY better steering feel at speed, no worries about maintenance, and frees up power. Unless you're running on dubs, these cars really don't need power steering.......

The only drawback.....the steering ratio with the manual rack isn't as quick. That MAY be fixable with Honda parts, or aftermarket, but that's more money.

With the power steering no longer being used for whatever period of time, can this cause damage to the pump and lines ?

Not something the ordinary enthusiast would be able to re-install? What needs to be done to place the belt back on, can it just be remove the tension place the belt back on and retighten. If it's too tight or far apart I am sure the belt will snap sooner then it normally would?
