A/C reinstall question
I just reinstalled all the A/C lines and hoses on my car to get ready for the hotass summers here in Texas. However when i started asking A/C shops how much it would cost to get it vacuumed or cleaned out they told me it would cost like 100 dollars. Is it really necessary to do this or can i just fill it up with freon right now? I plan on taking it off in a few months again when the heat dies down a little. Thanks

Re: A/C reinstall question (Bob Ross)
its not recomended...if their is any kind of debris (sp?) it will tear up the seals and might damage the compressor and cause a leak...if its been open, its better to put them under a vacuum...it shouldnt cost more to pull a vacuum, its the price of R-12 thats expensive...HTH

You have to clean out your system and you have to vacuum it. also I would empty the canister because it could have contaminates. if you do drain the canister you will need to check the fill volume of R12. Also it better to vacuum because a non vacuumed system has moisture in it.

you MUST evac. the system down to 29.5 in/mg to get rid of all moisture. The refill with coolant till proper pressures are meet.
Vacuumimg (evac) the system to get moisture out is the same basic idea as bleeding the brakes to get air bubbles out of system.
BTW how much oil did you lose when you ripped the system out?
