pr3 ecu in a d16a
just put in a pr3-j01 ecu in my del sol which normally runs a p28... this ecu threw a code but runs fine and vtec kicks in at 5700 rpms. Im buying a vtec controller so it kicks in at around 5 for more usable powerband. any one have any information about this or what i should set my vtec at?

ferio never came with a d16a6
there is no jdm d16a6 the 6 denotes that
a d16a6 is not an sohc vtec
a d16a6 is from an 88-91 CRX si or civic SI
you probably are thing d16z6, in that case the PR3 is for a b16a motor, better off selling it and buying a p28 to get it to run right, they cost about the same, other wise you can chip it and load it with a p28 BIN/ROM which i can email to you.
you need a chip burner, soldering skills, and the faq from pgmfi.org click on how to chip my ECU

if it is truly a JDM d16a then its called that d16a. pretty rare engine thats probably why you couldnt find info on it.
still the PR3 is not the proper ecu for it. a p28 will be the best soulution for that particular motor.
yes a JDM d16a is sohc vtec........you stated numerous times its a d16a6 which is NOT the same engine. be careful before you type motors...........................the NUMBEr does matter
d16a1 - dohc non vtec first gen integra
d16a6- sohc 88-91 crx si
d16a- JDM sohc vtec
see how there is a diffrence?
but what you can do is go ahead and show the motor stamp, ill tell you exactly what motor it is.

Re: pr3 ecu in a d16a (96teggylsse)
haha i've got 2 sitting in my car, but vtec hits harder and my car seems faster in general with a pr3 ecu, i have no idea why, but ill set that one for 4800 and send it in to get it chipped... i wonder if the fuel maps are different or something like that...

Re: pr3 ecu in a d16a (d[sick]sTeena)
does a stock ecu, (any type) recognize the difference in octane, whether it be 87, 89, 91, etc?
