Power problem. . .
Hey guys I gotta small power problem. . . Here's the set-up...
97 civic ex.
punch 500
pucnh 250
1 farad capasitor
alarm
shaved door handles, in turn door popers.
eq
head unit
stock battery
stock altenator.
Here's the problem. My alarm and door poppers do not work. Mainly the door poppers in what I am worried about. . .crawling thru my trunk is BS.
Here is what I have already done.
stock battery and altenator: with the door open the poppers work fine. with the door closed they do not work at all.
bigger battery and altenator: same as above.
battery is holding a charge fine, but the altenator is pull in 184 amps. with system and the ac on.
The car starts up fine and all the compents work fine while the car is on. Only when the car is off the poppers do not work...
any ideas?

Re: Power problem. . . (turbocoupe)
the doors might be grounding them out? or you have a short in general somewhere. Have you traced the wiring to see if there are any problems?

Re: Power problem. . . (SilverCivic2k)
Yes I did trace the wiring and it is fine. I ran the power wire from the motor to the alarm thru the factory "rubber" seal where the rest of the wires, (door locks and window) runs thru. . .

184Amps!?!?!!! Are you sure about that and how did you measure that?
It looks like the load on the poppers is too much. In order to open the doors your popper motors need alot of current, not voltage. Even tho voltage is a result of current.
V=resistance X current
I hope you get it fixed and I might know a buddy in your town that can maybe help.

Re: Power problem. . . (Arturbo)
yup 184 amps. . .took it to autozone to have the altenator checked out. That was with the car, ac, and radio on. without the ac 174amps. Without the radio 150amp.
