Possible hydro lock???
Last night here in MD, it rained its *** off for quite a bit, and the water couldn't drain fast enough off the streets. I was driving to my friends house during this, and as I'm driving my check engine light came on. I also heard a belt squeak during the rain before the light came on. However the car didn't die, and the check engine light went off when I started it later that night. Today its been running fine. Anybody have an idea of what happened? Is it hydro lock?

you have a b18c in a EG and your unsure of Hydro lock??
Aite, heres what Hydrolock is
when you suck in an excess amount of water that is to much to be burnt up at one time it floods the combustion chamber with water and the water has no place to go with the pistons comes back up on the next stroke except through the valves or down the piston walls...
In which case, if you hydrolocked your motor, it wouldnt run

I do understand what hydro lock is, but I was reading some of the other posts and they said that it can sometimes lock the motor up later on.

Re: (beaterdriver)
I was thinkin that it might have been the alternator, seeing as thats the only belt I'm running. Maybe water just got all over it and caused the issue?

nah, if your car is running that means there no water in the combustion chamber ( obviously )...
However, at times sucking up a little bit of water can be a good thing...
search on Decarbinizing your pistons
