when i bought my 96 coupe the skirts were like a faided grey, to put it simply, They looked like crap, so i sanded them down and bought some primer, base coat and clearcoat from pepboys and painted them, they look a million times better now, and it took me a little over an hour.
just make sure you dont cake on the spray paint or youll get nasty drip marks, you have to use extremely thin coats, and sand using a medium low grit sand paper at first, then use a really fine grit to get it smooth.

i agree. it looks better painted. unless you get the ek4 sir lip, then you should leave the side skirts flat black, but always paint the moldings and door handles!

Assuming that he has an EJ8 (as seen in his name), his door handles, side moldings, mirrors, and trunk lid garnish are already painted.
I personally prefer side skirts and door handles to be painted, while moldings and mirrors remain satin black. That's JMO though. I also like the look of painted moldings and mirrors, but only on certain cars.
