I recently got my car painted, and I asked them to also paint the side skirts. I dont really like the way it looks and would like it to look the normal black color again. I was thinking I could just sand the paint off with super fine sand paper and make it smooth, but im worried it will look like crap, or I can buy some side skirts from a junk yard or something. What would be the better (cheaper) option?

probably quicker if you went to the junkyard since most paint jobs are atleast 2 layers. base and clear.

Would I need to paint the side skirts after I sand them? I was thinking if I use a very fine sand paper, I wouldnt have to paint them.

you'd still need to sand all the paint off and then maybe you can go gradually finer to get that stock look back. 320 > 600 > 800 > 1000 > 1500 > 2000 <-- Grits of sand paper that i would probably use to do this job. but it might just be easier if you just sanded them down with 800 and just paint them black yourself with like bumper coating or semi-gloss black

I would just paint them..no use buying an extra set of side skirts. Thought about using paint thinner/stripper to remove the paint?? I'm not sure how the plastic would react to it though

Thinner or stripper would probably turn it white, but there's "trim paint" that's a semi gloss black color that could go over it.
