Oxygen Sensor Hell! Please Help
I have a 1998 Civic HX Manual Transmission. I need to replace my #1 O2 Sensor.
Bosch 13025 - Is the Stock Replacement But Cost $440 !!!
Bosch 17014 - Is not but only cost $70
They are both 5-Wire Wide Band Sensors. I Want To Just Get The Cheaper One And Cut The Connector And Splice In My Stock Connector.
Can Anyone Help Me Out And Tell Me Why Or Why I Shouldn't Do This.
Or Maybe Have Any Helpful Info?

on the other hand, i would be very warry of such a huge price difference. make sure, 100% that the $70 sensor will work properly before you buy.

Re: Oxygen Sensor Hell! Please Help
You'll be fine either way.
If you are worried about the wiring (which is done all the time)
you can find cheaper alternatives that already have the factory style plug wired in to make it a true P n P replacement.

it's been my understanding that O2 sensors have shielded wires so cutting and splicing will cause interferance in the signal. i would imagine you could de-pin and re-pin the connector so you don't have to cut anything...

Re: Oxygen Sensor Hell! Please Help
I just checked rockauto here are the bosch part numbers for the ones that will work
upstream: bosch 13007 (exact fit) $55
downstream: bosch 15733 $60 (splicing required) bosch 13249 $70 (exact fit)
If i were you whichever one of those you need (up or downstream) is exactly what I would get it is probably pretty much the same thing as the oem one.

Re: Oxygen Sensor Hell! Please Help
The only problem is the HX Manual Transmission takes a different upstream sensor than the Automatic Transmission. It makes it difficult when looking for sensors because you get excyted for a minute untill you see the upstream is for the automatic. Its such a pain in the ***.
i want to just get this but skerd of wasting my money Bosch LSU 4.2 5 Wire Wideband. i can splice and solder the wires just fine. I just dont know if its compatible.

Re: Oxygen Sensor Hell! Please Help
I hope that you find an answer because I have a 97 HX with a stick and it still has the original O2 sensor with 325000 miles.
