Oxygen Sensor CEL Code

Oxygen Sensor CEL Code
I just cleaned both my O2 Sensors, but now the car shows a CEL light. I ran the CEL check thing and it blinked once, meaning that I have a O2A error or a oxygen sensor #1 error. Is there a problem? I only took out the oxygen sensors, cleaned them with brake cleaner, waited for them to dry, and put them back on. I'm pretty sure the brake cleaner did not damage them because I have heard of others using the same thing to clean their O2 sensors without problem. Is there actually a problem with my sensors, or do I just need to reset my ECU?

Re: Oxygen Sensor CEL Code (tmduck)
Bad ground possibly...or one of the heaters inside the O2 sensor went out.
That's the first time I've ever heard of somebody cleaning an O2 sensor...ever

o2 sensor question)
I just got the code P0131. On a 1999 Honda Civic.
I know it has to do with the O2 sdensor. I'm not sure where this sensor is located. I know there are 2 of em.
Manual says closest to the cylinder head b4 the cat converter.
Where exactly is this located?
i reset the ecu, drive it like maybe 4 to 5 miles then the cel comes up, and the transmission act funny. therpm revs up the car won't move then it just kicks in and takes off, is that something like the limp mode?
Any tricks or anything I can do about this?
By the way this cil came on 1 day after I changed the oil. I had a hard time with the oil filter, etc. there is something going into the engine block right above the oil filter, is that maybe a o2 sensor?

Re: o2 sensor question) (Bruce Lee)
The one right above the oil filter is more than likely a knock sensor (assuming your car is equipped with VTEC)
The only way to get rid of the O2 sensor code is to replace the O2 sensors...there are usually 2 of them, one right before the cat and one right after the cat...they have two wires (usually) and screw right into the exhaust system itself
EDIT: But on the '99 SOHC Civics the O2 sensor is RIGHT on the exhaust manifold in the middle of the manifold itself.

No this is a civic LX, it has 2 o2's. 4 wires each.
Got a code P0131. Input voltage from o2 sensor 1 in bank 1 is too low for current conditions. Retards cant put in in plain terms haha, anwyay....It says closest to the cylinder head b3 the cat converter. Not sure which of the 2 is this loc talking bout.

Re: o2 sensor question) (Bruce Lee)
I just recently had to change my o2 sensor, It was a 21mm and it was located on my manifold just before the cat - so it was right underneath pointing upwards - and the clip was a nightmare to get out (i have a EK4 hatch b16a2 and its a standard 4-2-1 manifold and its on the 1 section just before the CAT).

I finally got my new o2 off the net.
It did take a week, called em , it was back ordered,
but anyway. Got the part, 2 days later went to work on it.
Opening was <U>very simple</U>, but make sure you use lubrication <U></U>a
day b4 and spray it good.
Took me 1/2 and hour to get it done. I took the bad out, tried to clean it, put it back, cel was on. Put ther new o2, ran for few minutes, took for test drive, all was good.
Problem finally solved. <U>Dealer charging $350</U>, haha, forget them. Local repair shop, $100 withought the part.
If you know what ur doing, it's not a big deal.
Either way, car has been running fine, no troubles detected. [/IMG][IMG][/IMG]
Tonight I have to do a regualr tune up...
By the way, the sockect size is the <U>22mm</U>............
