upper and lower O2 Oxygen sensor and weird idle
So a code came up and I had to replace the top o2 sensor in the civic (1997 LX automatic)
Replaced it and now the code is gone, but the idle still acts pretty weird
The idle drops very slowly at a stop light, from 800 rpm to sometimes almost 200 rpm, but it wouldn't stall.
I thought ill replace the lower o2 sensor too (the one after the cat), but its a lot more expensive than the upper one (the denso one is about 150? i forget). But it seems that on some websites, the two o2 sensor is exactly the same (same product code for walker, but not denso) here is the link
http://www.automedicsupply.com...tion1
i just want to make sure it would fit but just want to spend 60 isntead of 150 for a denso. Does anyone know if the upper o2 sensor would fit into the lower one too? at least for the brand walker?
Thanks
Bernard

Unless you are throwing a code telling you that your lower O2 is gone why bother replacing it? After replacing your sensor it may take a few drives before the fluctuation idle disappears. Happened to me.

Re: upper and lower O2 Oxygen sensor and weird idle (old man neri)
i see your point
but its been 2 months now, the idle still acts weird
i think the o2 sensor went bad when i first used seafoam on the engine, (thats when the engine light came on)
i just assume the lower one isn't doing the job right
maybe i should disconnect the battery and see what happens?

B]<U>Update time</U>:
I finally got my new o2 off the net.
It did take a week, called em , it was back ordered,
but anyway. Got the part, 2 days later went to work on it.
Opening was <U>very simple</U>, but make sure you use lubrication <U></U>a
day b4 and spray it good.
Took me 1/2 and hour to get it done. I took the bad out, tried to clean it, put it back, cel was on. Put ther new o2, ran for few minutes, took for test drive, all was good.
Problem finally solved. <U>Dealer charging $350</U>, haha, forget them. Local repair shop, $100 withought the part.
If you know what ur doing, it's not a big deal.
Either way, car has been running fine, no troubles detected. [/IMG][IMG][/IMG]
Tonight I have to do a regualr tune up...
By the way, the sockect size is the <U>22mm</U>............
