I have searched but questions remain.

I have a 92 dx w/ b16 and stock dx radiator. The car has never had a problem cooling. Yesterday it started overheating. I checked it out this morning and the symptoms are:

1. coolant coming out of upper radiator hose near clamp, but does not come out until the car starts overheating.
2. lower radiator hose is completely cool.
3. idle went from 800 up to 1500.
4. car is fine idleing but overheats very quickly when driven, and then cools quickly when parked.
My hoses are brand new and are very secure. The cooling system is using distilled water and water wetter.

If you have coolant comming out of the upper radiator hose near the clamp I would NOT call it secure ! ?
Try air/bleeding the system ?
Water pump circulating okay ?
T-stat toast ?
Fan working ?

Remove both hoses and try pouring water into the radiator. There may be a clog in it if the top hose is hot and the bottom is cold.

the coolant coming out of the top hose is a fine mist that can't seem to get past whatever pressure is holding it up, the clamp is on very tight. i will check for a clog in the radiator first.

I would definetly say thermostat cause if ur upeer hose is hot and your lower hose is cool then ur stat is stuck closed

Maybe you should remove your thermostat completely and run without it and see if it still overheats. If it doesnt then definitely thermostat.

Reason why the bottom hose is cool is because the coolant doesn't even have enough time to warm up and its already leaked out of the cooling system! Hmm..if there are no leaks and puddles under the car then your engine might be burning the coolant inside the engine. Thats bad news man...hopefully it just needs a gasket replacement. Don't let that motor overheat too much though, you'll warp the cylinder head. Happend to me.
