I just want some opinions, horror stories, etc... I cant decide between Tokico blues, Billsteins, and KYB GR-2s... I'll be running them with Tein S's.. any input would be more than helpful.. thanks in advance, Bob

KYB's are the one you'll get the most "horror stories" from...
However... I had them on my last car (93 sentra) for over 100k and they ROCKED... never blew one never had so much as a single problem with them... I loved them. I only used them with eibach pro-kit springs so it wasn't so low it over-stressed the strut... I don't know how they'd fair on a lower car but on mine they ROCKED...
I used to drive like a MANIAC too... and in boston... they held up just fine.

I think Tokicos have more bad stories than the KYBs.
You mean Tein S-Tech sprins, right?
What kind of ride and handling are you looking for?
I just installed Tein S-Techs and KYB GR-2 (silvers) on my 1990 hatchback and I LOVE the ride quality.
Here's a few snaps and a quoted driving impression from another topic about it:
<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Me y0! »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Let me say that the Tein S-Tech/KYB GR-2 combo rides AWESOME. It's almost like a stock ride. No bounce whatsoever, and not too stiff. Seems like body roll has been cut down a bit, but I'm still probably adding a rear swaybar just for fun since it was free anyways. It's also kind of hard to test a suspension's worth on Kumho HR4 all season tires.
Cruising around town, the suspension soaks up bumps and inconsistencies in the road better than my old 190K stock set-up.
The Tein S-Techs can be had for about $140.00 (if you really look and know who to talk to) and have a 1 year warranty against over 5mm of sag, and the KYB GR-2 struts have a full lifetime warranty for the original purchaser on the original vehicle as long as there are no tooling marks or scratches on the strut piston surface or outward signs of abuse or incorrect installation. the KYBs can be had at or just under $200.00 if you look around.
So for around $340.00 I've got a nice even 1.5'' drop that rides as good or even better than stock in terms of comfort, and with progressive rates the suspension can firm up when you need it.
</TD></TR></TABLE>
I have never been impressed with Tokicos whatcoever. The blues suck *** IMO because every set I've seen come through my shop made the car ride bouncy because they are too soft for anything a bit stiffer than stock.
The Tokico Illuminas are not that great either. I'd opt for the KYB AG-X adjustables if you want something adjustable.
Remember that the KYBs have a LIFETIME warranty as long as there are no scratches on the strut piston and no other signs of obvious incorrect installation or abuse.

The KYBs are only warrantied if the drop is 1.5" or less, correct?

By the way:
A simple search under "kyb tokico" under "archived" topics in the EG+Civic/Del Sol Forum yielded TONS of info:

Re: Opinion on shocks for my EG (civic_tuner)
Front gap:
Rear gap:
Tein claims about 1.5 inches of drop, and they guarantee against 5mm of sag.
Perhaps Tein claims 1.8 for the EG springs, but I think they're all supposed to be 1.5.
