Default ok so

i was driving down the road in my 92 civic hatch the other day,and it just stopped going.i would put it in gear and let out the clutch, and the engine would rev up,but when i hit the gas, absolutely nothing.it will not start now, and it IS getting spark and fuel.i know it needed rings because it did smoke some when i would get on it, do you think my problem is the rings completely gave out, or could it be something else?this has had me baffled for the last couple of days, and any input will be greatly appreciated.thanks

year? make/model? miles? need some more info, bud

in the mean time, it almost sounds like a clutch issue if you put it in gear but it didn't go anywhere. does it start/run?

ok i wasn't sure if it was running or not. i dont know how tech-savvy you are, but you might want to check your ignition system for spark. alot of times when a coil or ignitor goes up, the car will just shut off like that. its happened to me before. but the car started up after it had cooled down a bit.

first step would be to take your distributor cap off and look inside to see if there's any corrosion in there. if so its possible you might need a coil or ignitor.

if the ignition system is ok, you need to look at your fuel system.

ive done all of that.it is getting spark because i took the wires off and cranked it and i got an arc jump.and on the other hand im pretty sure its getting fuel because i took out the plugs and they were wet.

and also i just put a brand new distributor, dist cap, rotor button, plugs and wires not even a month ago.

ok, you're plugs being wet is NOT a good thing. that means they're fouled. if they become submerged in fuel they will not fire correctly.

then i would say go cheap and swap in a b16a2. you can get a complete swap for around $1500 (+/-) depending on where you get it.. not much more than it would cost to overhaul your current engine. you can search honda-tech's 'for sale' forums, and/or try this site:
