oil pressure causing vtec CEL?
im getting code 22 i believe it was. vtec pressure solinoid. Im thinking its an oil leak somewhere but when the cars parked it wont leak a drop.. if i go test drive it when i hit vtec in 3rd it will throw the code. the side of the engine where the timing belt cover is has some wet oil on it aftwerwards.. i pulled the mount/ps/lower mount bracket off and pulled the top part of the cover off but i couldnt see a leak anywhere.. where could it be coming from? its not coming from the head gasket its all dry there. any help would be real helpful thanks!

Do you have enough oil? i was running really low one time, and hit vtec and threw a cel for vtec oil pressure, i would check that, and if the isnt the problem, check the vtec solenoid filter if that was seriously cloged it copuld cause a problem i belive

you can bypass the vtec oil pressure switch...i would check oil pressure first at the head and make sure it good...then bypass it and no more CEL...www.pheatable.net has the instructions for it...some vtec motors didnt come with one so you have to bypass it on some swaps

is it for a b16 or older model honda motor? obd1? yea that happeend when my homie hot tanked my motor with the vtec pressure solenoid on it still and when we dropped the motor back in (1 day later) it threw that code so go ahead and find a new one!
