oil help

oil help
ok so I just got a 00 si and I'm gonna be changing the oil but the previous owner said he had put in penzoil sae20w 50 idk why, but my questions is which kind should I go with 5w30 or 10w30? the car has 100k miles on it. I'm kinda new at this too so any help would be appreciated.

5W-30 is what you SHOULD be using. It's accepting of a larger temperature range than 10w-30. You CAN run 10w-30, but I'd stick with 5W-30
I use 10w-30 and that's just because I'm turbo'd.
I had a friend that ran 20w 50 and he blew up his motor -- serious rod knock. You should never run that thick of oil through your civic -- ever.

Yea I was gonna go with 5w30 but just wanted to get some extra thoughts on it considering it had that 20w50 on it before. But I think I'm gonna go with the 5w30 then thanx.
