Oil every where..... on tranny
Well I am officially stumped. I have motor oil on top of my tranny housing like under the starter. It's running down the back of the tranny and on the axles. After a good beating, its pretty much a steady drip off of the tranny. Before people start telling me its tranny fluid..... my tranny fluid is red and the motor oil.... well is motor oil colored :-P I was thinking it was the rear main seal since i just slapped it in there really quick but there isn't any fluid coming from the flywheel cover/shield. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks in advance.

if u used Honda MTF, ur tranny fluid will be brown. Motor oil is honey colored depending on what u used.....smell it instead, if u smell a slight burt gasoline like exhaust smell, then its gonna be motor oil. Good luck

Re: Oil every where..... on tranny (deadend9009)
im using syncromesh = red
i just rebuild the motor had the head cut and a new headgasket with arp studs. I am noticing a little drop of oil under the passenger side front corner of the head but i cant see oil from anywhere else and now that i think of it my coolant reserve was low. Just changed the oil yesterday and there wasnt coolant in it and the coolant hasnt changed colors either. So i dunno......

ok i just went out and took another look. theres no oil running or marks from oil running from the headgasket area. it seems like it just starts at the starter and everything else is just covered. P.O.S. was suppose to go fail.. i mean pass inspection/emissions tomorrow too :

lets rephrase that then. the oil isn't leaking anywhere from the valve cover to the headgasket.

do a compression check and check your spark plugs. clean everything off and start it and watch for the leak

must be main seal... what else can it be if not from head/valve cover/dizzie area? doesn't make sense that oil is coming from starter area on top of trans though...

Re: Oil every where..... on tranny (jspecPR26)
well i just did a compression test
223 229 235 230
its just weird because the oil (not antifreeze) is leaking from the area of 3 & 4. I have antifreeze dripping from my axles now along with oil. So I am saying its the head gasket.......again. 3 in like ~200 miles and i had the head and block decked so it looks like im gonna get them cut again.
should an oem headgasket work with a 81.5mm bored and like 10.5:1 compression? or should i get like an HKS for an 81.5mm?
like an 81.5mm HP Gasket Civic 1999-2000 Si from King Motorsports ?
that should work with an JDM b16 right?
