obd2b gsr swap/obd2b p72 ecu into obd2a 96 civic - Wire harness help!!
Ok so im doing a gsr obd2b swap with p72 ecu obd2b into a 96 civic coupe obd2a. My issue Is I am in the middle of a wire harness purchase.
I've been doing research on the swap as much as possible but I'm still in the dark here.
I thought I needed the 99-00 civic ex vtech harness, BUT my seller is saying I need the 96-98 ex vtech harness.
He has both but now I'm not sure what exact one I need. Can someone please help!!
If there's anything that didn't make sense please let me know thanks guys!

Re: Wire harness help!!
you need to stay OBD2A for harnesses if that is what the car is. get an obd2a to obd2b jumper for the ECU.

Re: Wire harness help!!
Yeah the cAr is obd2a. But it sounds like it would be easier to use obd2a ecu. So would it go smoothly for the following:
Obd2b b18c1 engine
Obd2a ecu
Obd2a wire harness
Obd2a car
Obd2b b18c1 engine
Obd2a ecu
Obd2a wire harness
Obd2a car

I think that would work, I am unsure of the GSR ECUs though but it sounds fine, I think there may also be some wiring to do with your existing harness

Re: Wire harness help!!
If your ECU is a USDM P72 it's going to have an immobilizer. If its JDM it won't be able to connect with a code scanner. So id go with an OBD2A P72. You have a few options with the wire harness. You can use your harness and add the necessary wiring (VTEC, knock, IABs, IACV rewire, extend secondary 02). Or you can use the 96-98 EX but you'll have to manually add in the secondary 02 and the IABs.

I see what you guys are taking about it seems more beneficial to do the 2nd option on the link that was posted cuz no cel and no other issues just I couldn't identify a clear solution on how to fix the problem

I'm going to get the 96-98 vtech harness and just manually add the secondary o2 and IABs.
As far as the ecu goes I'm going to get the usdm p72 and work on removing the IMM. Hopefully all will go well I'm sure il be posting more problem threads as time progresses lol

If you get the 96-99 Integra P72 you won't have the IMM issue at all plus you won't have to buy an adapter harness from OBD2A to OBD2B, it'll plug and play.
