obd2-obd1 b16 questions
Ive searched this and havent quite been able to find exactly what i need.
I am planning to convert to obd2b to obd1. I have a 00 civic si and i recently aquired an obd1 b16a long block to put into it. the new motor has the obd1 harness with it but there are obviously many differences between the obd2b and the obd1.
the new motor is lacking a sensor that is down beneath the crank pulley which i believe is the crank position sensor.
Also the obd1 harness is short and will not reach around to get through the firewall, everything seems backwards.
This is my first time doing anything like this and i am in the dark about what i need to do next.
would i be able to use my stock obd2b harness and ecu? or will i need to get a new harness and ecu?
any help you guys would have would be greatly appreciated.

Re: obd2-obd1 b16 questions (kartman)
yeah i realized that after looking at it.. the harness is for RHD.
so im guesing that im not going to be able to use that harness because it won't reach?

I have a 92 OBD1 LX... I swapped out the engine (because my old one died) with a D16Y7 which is a OBDII engine. It came with a crank sensor that my car/wiring harness does not have. You will not need to plug it. The plug is just kinda hanging there by the alternator area... As far as it not reaching, is it a RHD/JDM engine?

it'll work but you don't have to do that. you can bypass the sensor by the crank pulley at the ECU
http://www.ff-squad.com/technet/ckftrick.htm
also reuse your injectors, alternator and distributor from the old motor
you'll have one extra sensor on the intake manifold (IAT sensor) just leave it unplugged and use your original one

Drill a hole in the firewall in the driver's side and mount the ECU on the driver side. The plugs in the harness may be in a reverse order though.. Not sure.

ill use that as a last resort.
but i just got the conversion harness so i can use my obd2 harness.. and when hooking everything up i noticed a few things.
the plugs on the distributor dont line up.. neither does the one on the alternator..
am i doing something wrong here? is it not possible to use a obd2 harness on this motor?
would it be ok if i swapped over the dizzy and alternator from my old b16? would there be anything else i would need to swap?
i know i sound like a noob but im having a tough time here
