OBD1 or OBD2...?
So I'm about to pick up a gsr motor pretty soon sometime next month but my question is, is the 98-01 gsr motor OBD1 or OBD2 because I'm getting different stories from everyone and is that motor 180hp or 170hp???

USDM OBD2 with 170hp. Supposedly the JDM engines have 180hp b/c of higher compression but thats always been debated over.

That's for civics. For integras I think it's 96-97 is obd2a and 98-01 is obd2b.

I am certain 99-01 is obd2b, but not certain of 98.

OBD2, for the US, started in 1996. Your GS-R motor is setup to run with an OBD2 ECU.
But here is what happened - Honda and Acura switched the physical ECU connectors mid-OBD2.
Civic
96-98 = OBD2a
99-00 = OBD2b
Teg
98-99 = OBD2a
00-01 = OBD2b
Basically, I can take a 00 GS-R ECU and plug it directly into my 99 Civic but the same ECU will NOT plug directly into the 96-98 Civic chassis (without a conversion harness).
I can take a 99 GS-R ECU and plug it directly into the 96-98 Civic chassis but the same ECU will NOT plug directly into the 99-00 Civic chassis (without a conversion harness).
People will typically want the pre-98 GS-R ECU's because in 99, they added the immobilizer.
