OBD1 motor in OBD2 Civic only reving to 4000rpm
my friend just swapped a OBD1 GSR motor into a EJ ( think that is the model) the 1998 Civic coupe OBD2. everything seems to be wired up correctly and whats not but the car only revs to 4000RPM, when flat revving it standing still or driving.
What could cause this ?
How can we fix it ?

make sure all the wires going to the ecu are good not pinched that happened to my friend he had a pinched wire going to the ecu and after we fixed it it would red line over 7k lol.

THe car is still doin it .....anyone know why something like this would happen ?
No wires are pinched, all are connected. or appear that way.

I know this might sound strange. I just did a swap on a 93 hatch, stock motor blew. I guess it dumped a ton of crap into the cat and became cloged. Damn b16 would not rev over 3k to 4k. Pulled the cat gutted that sucka and ran perfectly.
Might not be the answer but its worth a try. Unbolt your header from the rest of the exhaust and see if it helps.
