O2 Sensor wont budge!
Well, I am up ***** creek again. I'd be drowning if Tom hadn't hooked me up with a cat and stock exhaust manifold.
I am trying to pass emissions. It has to happen tomorrow, and I can't get the damn o2 sensor out of my JDM 4-1. The shitty tools I have at school aren't helping. Anyone know the actual size that goes on this thing so I can get it off. Any personal experiences would be great too.

soak it with brake fluid or WD-40, let it sit for a little bit, then cut off the part of the plug that clips on to the metal bracket that bolts to the transmission. use a 22mm box wrench and a hammer and you should be able to get it out.
another thing you can try is to warm up the car with the headers bolted up and try to take it out while everything is hot.

Yeah, I had the same problem. I think the 22 mm will work (I remember taking a spare o2 sensor to Sears to get the right wrench). I had to take the header off the car, brace it so I could pull it with all my body weight behind it, and I still had a hell of a time breaking it loose.
I am not sure, but I am pretty sure that oil products will "mess up" an o2 sensor. I was warned about using Liquid Wrench or equivalent products.

I thought it was a 22mm as well. I'll have to give it another go after work. Hope I don't have to use the bar from taking off my axle bolts

hit it with some wd-40 or jb-80 and as far as WHAT tool to use, I have a special socket that has a slot for the wire to come out the side (from MATCO). It comes in very handy

Might have to stop at pepboys and pick one of those up. This has to be done tonight or I'll be telling it to the judge.

Well, I figured out why it wouldn't come out. It stripped like a bitch. I don't think I cross threaded it, It was almost like the threads were totally ripped off when I pulled it out. I might be able to rethread it, but I didn't have time for that so I got one at pepboys. ($80)
If my car doesn't pass today I am going to be so pissed.

I passed!
Never buy a Carsound Cat
I barely passed with one before and now I passed with flying colors. The carsound also hollowed itself out within two months of putting it on the car.

Re: (White Lightnin)
carsound cats are not oem replacements, so you shouldn't expect them to perform like one.
as for the hollowing out, that does happen on occaision to all aftermarket cats, you may want to see if it's covered under warranty.

No joke, I would expect a new one if it killed itself in 2 months!! (or my money back to buy a different brand that would'nt die as quickly.)

Re: (Ricey McRicerton)
I see problems like this all the time at work. I keep telling everyone to invest in an O2 sensor socket, but no one seems to listen. Oh well, their loss my gain, cuz when it takes my 5 minutes to take out the old one and put in a new one I have seen it take them as long as forty-five minutes. If you get one of these your will not regret it.

Re: (JDM-97CX)
As for the cat, I would have gone for my warranty, but I payed more to have it welded w/ custom flanges than I paid for the cat itself. Not worth replacing.
As for the o2 sensor. The actual threads to the header stripped not bolt itself.
