NOS kits
Yeah I'm new here and know more about the meaning of life then I do about my '91 Civic hatchback. Okay I need some help with it. It's the standard hatch but it has the D15B2 in it. Now reasonably speaking the car does the quarter mile about as fast as my grandma sitting down. I was thinking would NOS be a simple solution to the problem. If so How do I use it. I'm not in the mood to kill the only college car I got. Do I like press a button and suddenly all my cares and worries dissappear forever or is there more. Second thing is are there any aftermarket products for the D15B2 because everywhere I see its B16A this and B18C that. Is there any point in working with this car or do I have to swipe the parents '97 Accord.

Re: NOS kits (Veil_Side_)
im totally against NOS its like cheating or using a bike
but if you want to go for it its cheap power. a 50 shot wont do much to your engine.
IMO you should just swap a b16 first gen in there. less than 1200$ if you look around.
that will get you some good power then you can get some good mods

Do compression and leak down tests to determine the condition of your motor. If all is good, a dry 50 shot will do fine.
BTW, Nitrous is always considered cheating by the guys that get beat by it.

Re: NOS kits (Slopoke)
do some research. that price is for everything http://www.hondamotorsonline.com $1250 for EVERYTHING.
the sir1 is cheap.
and haha and nos is cheating
its a quick fix to a slow car.
and i may get beat by nitrous for now. but whats better? one shot per race? or every time you go above 4000 rpm your boosting over 10psi. thats more than a 100 shot of NOS.

Re: NOS kits (KAMiN)
In order for the b16a to fit into a 91 civic, you have to have a custom mount kit, axles, shift linkage, etc. You have to buy these things seperately form companies like place racing and hasport.
haha, one shot per race? You do realize that, that "shot" lasts the entire race.
For me, I'll tell you whats better. My car is a daily driver, I need it to get to work and back everyday. I like the fact that the power (and wear) is only "On" when I choose.
But I guess its not honest power unless its expensive.

Re: NOS kits (KAMiN)
Im not trying to convince you that nitrous is better. Im explaining why it is better for me and my needs right now.
Nitrous Oxide is a power adder just like a turbocharger or supercharger.
When a car is capable of running 12 sec 1/4 miles, it doesnt matter to me how they got there. Turbo, Nitrous, Supercharger, All motor.......Its still impressive!!
Good luck with your turbo.

Re: NOS kits (Veil_Side_)
Whats a "Dry" and "Wet" shot. I keep hearing about that? Sorry if I seem a little off on it. I just started getting into this stuff recently. Oh yeah, my Civic has a real hard time breaking 100 m.p.h., I mean it's great 0-60 but past 90, the car gets into this SLOWWW mode. I get beat by oldmen in Cadillacs with ease. Will NOS help solve this little scenario. I think the mail man doing his route put me to shame. Anybody know of any improvements besides the b16A, thats going to have to wait atleast another 2 months.

Re: NOS kits (Veil_Side_)
im really not an expert but I think dry is the stock injector will give you the fuel you need for the nitrous shot while with the wet you have nitrous and fuel shot into your intake manifold!

Re: NOS kits (Maxime)
A dry system shoots nitrous into your intake. You stock fuel system provides the extra fuel needed.
There are two kinds of wet systems.
Nitrous Express makes a wet system that fires fuel and nitrous into your intake.
Then you have your direct port systems that puts a nitrous/fuel jet on each intake runner.
Do a search on the avatar (little picture) question. It has been asked before.

Re: NOS kits (Veil_Side_)
A few points:
1. It is not NOS, it is nitrous oxide or n2o. NOS is a brand name, not a technology.
2. Nitrous oxide is only cheating if you claim that you don't have it. If everyone knows that you are using n2o to make your car fast, there's nothing cheating about it. For some reason, people are against a product that gave someone else the same benefit for $250 that you got for $1000 or more. Hell, if you're smart enough to use it correctly, go for it! If you blow up your engine, it's your own stupid fault.
3. Wouldn't recommend putting it on the only college car you have. Too many possible problems if it is not tuned correctly or if it is used incorrectly.
4. You could n2o the D15, and it would show some decent gains, but to get anything REAL with n2o, you would have to swap the engine
