Default Noobie Question Plz Help

Ok I bought a 2000 civic ex and i was wondering do the 00 ex engines come with the valve cover that says v tech on them because i popped my hood and i do not see a v tech sign anywhere.

I'm sure there's lots of people that can tell you that useless information, I, unfortunately for u, am not one of them.

If it's the stock EX engine, then yes, all '96-'00 civic EX's had VTEC.

If you look at your motor from the front, to the left, where the trans meets the motor, and look down a little, you'll see a little 1x1 inch plate with a engine code on it. That's what engine it is.

If it's the stock civic EX motor it'll say "D16Y8" - though it may say something different.

You can't base whether an engine is VTEC or not based on what it says on the valve cover. Certain years/trims they did it (put VTEC on the valve cover), certain ones they didn't, I don't know the specifics of the years on when they did and when they didn't (and on what motors they did or didn't do it on), that craps kinda useless. Check the block code.

Stock '00 EX motor = D16Y8
D16Y8 = SOHC VTEC motor with approx. 127bhp
