noob questions...
My appologies in advance, I know you guys are probably really tired of seeing questions like this, but I can't figure out the search function on this forum.
Ok, I'm looking at buying a 99 Civic hatch that is in pretty rough shape as a project car. It has a B16 w/ GSR tranny swap in it right now, but the owner said the tranny is pretty much done, third gear is completely gone. My goals for the car would be to go with a turbo setup (not sure about keeping the b16 or going with an LS or something of the sort)...but what motor/transmission setup is good for holding some pretty decent power (say maybe 300 whp)?
Thanks in advance from a noob,
- Steven

95sloweg, wouldn't the LS/vtec-turbo setup be pretty hard to tune? I'm somewhat competent with street tuning as I tuned my old supercharged grand prix, but I didn't have to factor in boost as well as something like vtec.
doood, will a b16 transmission be able to hold up to ~300 wheel hp without having to be rebuilt/replaced all the time?

Re: (Annihilator)
ok, keep the b16 ( assuming the motor is in good condition) and just get a new gsr trans with LSD. LSD is fun, lots of fun and will help you out too, and boost it

Its really not hard to tune. As long as you know vtec is going to hit and where you can tune the a/f for it. It can cause a little boost spike so watch out for that, but people do it all day everyday.

Thanks for all the info guys. I guess the first thing I need to do is see what condition the motor is in...actually first is to sell my srt, but that's a different story.
I guess since vtec is engaged at the same RPM, then it shouldn't be that bad to tune for...forgot about that... I was thinking along the lines of nitrous with window switches, etc.
