Default NOOB Question about Rebuilding motors???????

So what exactly does rebuilding a motor involve?
And how much would it cost if I have a shop do it?

If you have the knowledge you can do it yourself. Wont cost you more than what you have to buy.

Bearings and rings are definelty required. There are gaskets that you will HAVE to replace and then there are others that you might get away with not replacing if your real tight on money.

do it right, replace ALL gaskets, an annoying leak isn't worth saving 5 bucks

Like others have said, you can call a shop and get an estimate, find someone on H-T that can do it or pick up a Helms and some tools and go out it. If you go the helms route you will not only save money, but you will learn something about your car and its only going to cost you time/tools/$$ for parts.
