It's always cheaper to buy a swap and just drop it in. You just don't know what condition the motor is in until you run it for the first time.

Rebuild cost as follows:
Bore and hone: ~200
Pistons: ~150
Gasket kit: ~200
Head gasket: ~100
Main Bearings: ~70
Rod Bearing: ~75
Extras stuff that you don't account for like ARP main and head studs, head work, etc.: $$$
Labour for assembly is not included because you're doing all the work yourself, right!!

You may want to consider finding a rasonabally priced professional rebuilt so that
it gets done right the first time and you can avoid paying for the same thing twice.
I've had two engines rebuilt and the price wasen't bad and the engines have run
great without any problems. Just a suggestion and good luck!

That's not the final/exact price... they were only giving you an estimate. It depends if your gona be doing some work on your own or letting the shop hack and slash them. Plus it also depends on the shop's price/labor.

Somewhere around there. -/+
