No spark from distributor
Recently, after checking the compression in my 93 del Sol vtec, my distributor stopped giving a spark. The car cranks, but doesnt start. I've checked every plug I can, checked the fuses, and I tried unhooking the negative battery cable for a few minutes. Anyone run into a similar problem like this before?

LOL, I cant even get the connector apart. Is there something in particular that I need to do to get it apart?

Ok, I checked them out, blew in them a little, and still nothing. What would cause the dizzy to go bad?

Re: No spark from distributor (blueeg)
Isnt the coils part of the distributor. Yes, I'm not getting a spark at the coils. I'm not familiar with the ignitor. I've got my manual in front of me, and I dont see it in there.

it's also known from the factory as the ICM= ignition control module.

Re: No spark from distributor (sleeperciv)
you said you didnt have spark after doing a compression check. did u unplug the coil wire before you cranked the engine to do the compression check?

I unplugged the wires from the plugs and not anywhere else. Could I have shorted something out? I had also washed the car. Maybe some water got on a connection when I opened the hood.

Re: No spark from distributor (Joel2204)
you need to replace the coil. when you crank it over without the plugs hooked up to the wires it will often fry the coil. 99% chance that's your problem. make sure you replace it with a factory one. or a used honda coil the ones from autozone and advance suck. hope that helps. next time unhook the 2 pin connector from your dizzy before runnign the compression check.

So right! That has to be the case here. Just remember next time to read up on how to compression test these types of engines.
