Default Newb without a clue

ok, I've aquired a 92' 5spd vx.

Now on to bigger things, like neons, a body kit, an ear-bleeding system, and i'm going to take the muffler off

heh....heh..
j/k

I have about 3 g's, and i want to get a faster engine, preferably dohc vtec and i can slap a turbo on later down the road.... ok now for some questions... I do plan on Turboing my civic, btu not right away, (i know dsm, not honda) so do i have to buy turbo manifold/headers? or will a bolt on turbo work with any aftermarket performance headers... also what size exhaust should i get? I dont want to spend too much more than a G on the engine... but since i have 3, recommending any other parts to get me started would be great appreciated. I'm really sorry if i say something rediculous, but hey i'm trying, and i gotta learn sometime, right?

Thankyou everyone in advance.

Welcome to the site man. Pretty much as long as your performance oriented youll be fine but if you start talkin bout neons and body kits youll get flamed. And make a note to read the forum rules And last but not least have fun and enjoy your honda.

Yeah do some research and figure out what you really want. Find out basic stuff before you spend your money.

Not a bad way to start.

For Hondas, a turbo requires a turbo exhaust header. The turbo CAN be placed further downstream, but I've never seen this (doesn't mean it can't be done, though). Want my $0.02? Buy a premade turbo kit for the motor you swap. Think about what you want BEFORE you get it. Research until you're sick of research.

The "forced induction" forum will be a very worthwhile place to learn. That forum is somewhat anti-supercharger, but hey, you're looking for a turbo.

Anyway, get the biggest exhaust that's made for turbo. For naturally aspirated, too big can actually hurt some parts of the power curve. But, for turbo, bigger IS better.

I'm a supercharger man myself, but you asked? Hope I helped.

Well your budget might be a little short for this project.

Any DOHC VTEC motor is going to cost you over a G. The B16A (160 Hp, no torque) will run you about $1,500+. The B18C Integra GSR engine has 170 Hp and will run you close to 3 grand. And they only get more expensive from there...

Turbo kits ussually run about 3k, don't expect to make one yourself, it's a pain.

Good luck.

H22A all **** included is a little over 3k if you drop it yourself and don't run into any HUGE problems . monster swap. the 454-Nova of Hondas

I know you won't listen to me, but I'll say it anyway. Do YOURSELF a favor. Spend $20 on this book and read it before modding your car...
