Default ?New tach not acurate?

My friend has a bone stock 92 civic hatch cx. it doesn't have a tach. so he baught one of those pepboys sunpro tachs. he hooked it up, i checked it he did it right, he connected the power and light to the fuse box and the green wire to that plug that is all by itself on the opposite side of the battery. he showed my the car at idle and it was fine at 800 RPM. when he redlined it it only went to 5600 RPM i don't know about stock cx's but i don't think the redline is at 5600. i told him the tach was not reading right but i told him i would check on the forum. so help me out is 5600 right for a bone stock cx?

In some cases stock tachs aren't as accurate as they should be. Redline may show as 7, but really it's 6.8 The tach your friend hooked up is probably correct.
