Default 5 inch monster tach help

anyone know my my 5 incher autometer tach is off by 700, it shows up as 700 more. ive tried everything. made sure the connection to the wire on the distributor was good, even tried new grounds and power sources, same thing.

once in a long while, it'll jump to normal reading, like once a month, but then it would only stay there for like 2 minutes , haha ghetto

any help would be great! thanks

Are you comparing it to a stock tach? The stock one is usually inaccurate.

if thats for me, then no, because i took it to fuel cut a couple times, , and from what the tach displays, its off...

its off, i can tell from idle and vtec engagement. sometimes it goes to accurate, but only stays there for a while

its almost like it has 2 modes, perfect, and added 700, lol

on the back of the tach there are little loop wires that each pertain to what cylinder car u have . for 4 cylinders u need to cut all of them , meaning no wire on the back should be together. all shodl be cut.

get an AFC...it will show you what rpm the ecu sees. Then you can tell which is really wrong and how much.

anyone know if i can jus tap the green wire to a wire on the ecu, instead of going to the distributor? if so, which wire is it?

yep. you can.

it's a light blue wire in the back of the cluster.

this wire runs right to the distributor, so there's no need to go all the way there.

that's where i've got mine tapped in at, and like i said...deadly accurate

Yep, that's how my autometer is set up. Cut them all and you should be good.
