Default New Pistons and Rings Ques **techys only!**

1.Iam replacing pistons in a b16a would it be a good idea and time saver to have it bored 0.5 over for a good to better seal for the new Rings and Pistons?

2.And if Iam keeping the stock Rods would it be a must to replace the rod barrings
or a no big deal thing?

3.With My gen b16a I have a 19.5mm Rod baring Width would I get more out of the motor by using a 17.5mm baring ?

1. it be best if you use over sized pistons, so that it seals better.

2. for a complete motor rebuild you should replace all bearings, but its not necessary but when you tear it apart, you might find some wear and tear.

3. i dunno bout that.

1: I believe the minimum is .25 over, and yes, do it.

2: rod bearings are a must. Forget what people say, Honda bearings are the best, so play the color game and get the right ones. Ther will earn their weight in gold.

3: Again, stick with what works. Don't try to re-invent the wheel. But bring that Q to a professional engine builder and find out if there can be a real difference...but I really don't think so.

are you gonna take it to the shop to get the rods removed from the stock piston? or you plan on doing that yourself? kinda dangerous....

and you don't want to go .25 over, that is 1/4 of an inch, and that will take pretty much all of you cylinder wall off.The minimum is .010, but the machine shop will tell you how much over you need to go.

You don't have to bore it over unless you have some nasty walls, you could probably get by with honing the cylinders, and that will seat your new rings.

Yes, do yourself a favor by getting new bearings.

and you don't want to go .25 over, that is 1/4 of an inch,
actually that measurement is in millimeters, not inches. The pistons are .25mm overbore.

but if you go into a machine shop and say you wanna go .25 over, they're gonna laugh at you. They'll set it up right to your pistons.

Any good machine shop will know what to do if you tell them to bore it .25 over.
