Default Need shocks advice for a '94 civic cx

I already got my Tein lowering springs and now I'm looking for new shocks. I have no idea what brands are good and I don't want to spend over 400+ on shocks, simply because they're a well known brand.

I was looking at KYB, but I know there is probably something just as good for much cheaper.

I don't really plan on taking it to the track. It's my daily driver, but I want to dress it up a bit and make it more fun to drive. I had a B16a swapped in years ago, but I've pretty much left it stock.

Any advice would be appreciated.

If you don't plan on tracking or doing any sort of crazy spirited driving in the vehicle, pretty much any shock will do.

I would recommend the KYB GR2 because I've had good experiences with those in the past as spare/winter suspension for my DD.

Why is it that when I've been researching the same thing for my 96 civic I keep getting stories how the KYB shocks were dead in 10k miles. And they hadn't lowered it, just stock springs! I keep hearing horror stories about them. Is it all a lie?

Yeah, it's these things that make me second guess myself before I click that "buy" button.

I've read people saying they bought Tokico shocks as if they're bragging, but after a google search, the appear to be surprisingly cheap. So I don't know.

I don't need anything adjustable, just something better than the factory shocks that are still on it, that will match up well with the tein springs I got.

Also, in my search, Skunk2's came up pretty cheap and that's definitely a name brand I've known about for a long time. But are they any good?

If you bought them used, yeah they won't last long. I have kyb installed on 2 cars and they are lasting with stock springs.
