youd have to disconnect everything and prep the motor to be pulled or, in your case, dropped. lower the car the lowest you can (no wheels no stands) and remove the mounts. the engine will drop. now you have to find a way to jack up the car high enough to slide/drag/roll the motor out. lol i have heard of people pulling it out the side from the wheel well after removing misc suspension parts. personally i borrow my friend's 7 ton jack and that does the job. if not i put a 2x4 on the jack to get a few inches.

Never hurts to do the timing belt, tensioner, & water pump. You could also change the head gasket before you throw it in as well.

Those are all preventative maintenance things that are a pita to do with the motor in the car. Do them now so you know when they were last changed & so that nothing takes a crap on you soon after you put the motor in & then have to spend a lot of time pulling the **** apart to replace it.
---

Check your fluids. Make sure there's oil in the motor, coolant in the radiator, & trans fluid in the trans.

Before you actually start the car you might want to pull the ECU fuse & crank the motor for 10-15 seconds to build up the oil pressure before you start the car. When I did my D16Z6-T build I cranked the motor until oil started coming out of the turbo feed line.
