Hello,
I'm looking for info about doing a B16 swap in a 2000 civic hb. It belongs to a friend of mine. It currently is auto, and he'd like to swap to manual at the same time. I don't know what motor he has now, but i doubt that matters, it's all gonna get canned anyway. I've never worked on a honda before, but i've done my share of work on domestic stuff, so i have a basic idea on how things work...

I'm basically looking for a parts list of stuff i need. Also i understand that there are variations of the B16, like B16a1 or something of that nature. Is one version better than another and if so on what levels?

What is the difference between a cable tranny and a hydro? (besides the obvious difference in clutch linkage?) strength being the main issue here.

What about emissions? Even though it's a j-spec motor, i can't imagine it having a problem passing a sniff test, if my buddy can get a 500 hp Ls1 passed, this should be cake right? Assuming of course i use an obd2 motor.

Well thats about it for the moment, i'm sure i'll be back here frequently as we try to figure all this out. He's aiming for high 13's NA, with some extra bolt ons, don't know how relalistic that is, but thats the goal...

are there any articles or sites, etc..that i should read up on for the swap. There is a plethora of info floating around the net for domestic engine swaps, i imagine this is no different.

If i put this in the wrong spot, please forgive me, and move to where it belongs. I'm starting to think maybe this would have been better on the tech board
