Still Need Help!!!! w/ Fuel Pressure Regulator!!!!!!!!
Ok heres the deal, I really need help with this
I sold my car earlier today,
while the guys who bought it were driving it home the gas got messed up
they pulled over and called me for help
the car starts up every other time and the rpm's go to 2, but then the rpm's go down and the only way I can keep them up is by taping on the gas, if I give it consistant gas the car sputters and dies
A few people I called told me its the fuel pressue
I don't know how to adjust it but when the car is off the gauge reads like 100 psi
I've had few problems with it before, the previous owner adjusted the regulator, I also put a can of octane booster in on a half tank before they toke the car. but they tried filling the gas tank up, no difference
I've been told my car is running rich before
I really need help
thanks in advance

Put a stock regulate back on it and I bet your problems are gone...sounds like the diaphram in the aftermarket one died...

what fuel pump is in the car.. and what do you mean when the car is off it reads 100psi what does ti read when its on.. some aftermarket pumps can overpower the stock regulator so that may not be your solution... i have a 255lph fuel pump and i had to modify the regulators return orfice to be able to use that pump.. also are you getting any check engine lights.. if so have you read teh codes?

no check engine lights, I told it might be the fuel filter so I'm gonna try to change that, the fuel pump is stock as far as I know

You have all the tools to figure it out yourself. What's the pressure when the engine's running? If it's 100 PSI then you've got over twice the fuel pressure you should. That's probably flooding the engine out. So, it's sounds like too much fuel, not too little. If you've replace the fuel pressure regulator and are still seeing 100 PSI then the problems probably in the return line to the tank. Maybe it got pinched or something so, even if the FPR's working fine, no fuel can return to the tank.
If I was troubleshooting this, I'd probably get a 5 gallon fuel container (empty) and connect the return line from the FPR to a hose and run it into this tank. If you can then run the car and the fuel pressure's OK, then you know the FPR and the pump are OK. Then you need to find out what's wrong with the return line.
If the pressure's still 100 and no fuel diverts to the empty tank, then the FPR's bad. If fuel's diverting and you STILL have 100 PSI then it's probably not a stock pump and installing a stock one might be the way to go.

i found out the gauge was busted, b/c it was still at 100 when I took the regulator off (the gauge is attatched to the regulator) I'm thinking its the fuel pump now. Any help with that would be appretiated

You should say you're guessing it's the fuel pump and are willing to waste $100 on this guess. I'd get a gauge and put it on there. You don't even know if it's a fuel problem at this point. It could just as easily be an ignition problem.
Your dizzy quits working when it gets hot or something. That's more likely than fuel pump.

this person is giving you all the answers... there are only a few things it can be.. and hes telling you them all.. i have not heard of a stock pump breaking and OVER fueling the car.. i mean MAYBE it could spike a bit but not like crazy high maintained pressure.. maybe its doing the opposite of what we initially thought.. maybe you are actually LOOSING fuel pressure... and maybe the pump is dying... at any rate his suggestion of getting a working gauge is probably your best bet.. another thing to think about.. we all assumed fuel pressure do to your unusually high reading.. and sure you are getting spark.. but are you getting GOOD spark? how old and worn are the plugs... lack of good spark could be the culprid... i know that when i run nitrous my plugs tend to wear a little faster.. and the first couple times i was changing them at stock intervals.. but then i started to notice the car was bogging under normal driving.. i pulled the plugs only to find them more worn than they should be.. new plugs and i was set... so now that you know the gauge is not functional i think it best to take a couple step back... take a look at the plugs.. when was the last time you reaplaced the wires? a worn ignition system can also create bogging issues..
a fuel pres gauge WOULD be a good start so that you can rule that out... but keep in mind there are other things that can create bogging..
