Default Need help with temperature being so high

I have a new freshly built motor that I'm trying to break in, LS/VTEC with all forged internals. And my temperature wants to run about 210. I hear the fan kick on but it's not really cooling it down at all. Could it be a faulty thermostat? I have heat in the car and that works fine. I'm just a bit confused. Need some serious help don't want to ruin a good engine and lots of money

Is 210F really abnormally high?

Is the radiator clogged with bugs and gunk that are reducing air flow?

Have you flushed the cooling system?

Does it run at 210F only when idling or also while driving?

while driving, it runs a little higher than 210 when idling. I just want to make sure I don't blow a head gasket or ruin my warp my head

Have you done a thorough bleed of the cooling system?

What's the temp rating of your current thermostat?

180, no I haven't bleed the cooling system. The radiator is pressurizing.

I would definitely bleed the cooling system.

But I'm getting plenty of heat like should. I ran the heat this weekend at night when it was a bit cool and the temp still didn't go down. I'll try it, but I just don't see how that could be effective.

If you did not bleed the system after replacing the radiator, then a little bit of air may be trapped in the system. This air might be slightly reducing flow of coolant into and out of the radiator. This could possibly raise the coolant temp when the engine is hot. Bleeding is pretty easy and definitely worth a try.

3 things to check i guess...mine is doing the same thing.

check for sufficient coolant, check the thermostat, and the cooling fan switch.

mine turned out to be the fan switch.

Okay, was your fan not running? I know mine is, but how long should it run for I guess a few minutes?

it should run every few minutes...mine would run for a second or two...or not run at all. it would work only when it wanted to...

The fan will run until the coolant temp drops below the temp threshold of the switch. I believe that the switch will trigger the fan to run continuously at or above 203F.

okay, ran the car for a few minutes the temperature got hot quick got to 210 and no fan, so I bought a fan switch. I'm going to try that and see what happens. Also bleed it too it made it a little better runs just a bit below 210

put a new switch in, didn't help the case at all. However I think it is now the thermostat because I turn on the heat and the temperature drops to about 190.

When you bleed the cooling system, park the car on an inclined driveway with the front end higher than the rear.

If you have a bleeder bolt where the upper radiator hose meets the block, be sure to loosen it and let coolant flow out until there are no bubbles.

Turn the heater lever/**** to max heat, top off the coolant in the radiator and reservoir, start the engine, and install the radiator cap loosely.

Let the engine idle until the radiator fan comes on twice. This may take 20-30 minutes. Turn engine off.

Top off the radiator with coolant again and install the radiator cap tightly.

Done.
