Need help with temperature being so high
I have a new freshly built motor that I'm trying to break in, LS/VTEC with all forged internals. And my temperature wants to run about 210. I hear the fan kick on but it's not really cooling it down at all. Could it be a faulty thermostat? I have heat in the car and that works fine. I'm just a bit confused. Need some serious help don't want to ruin a good engine and lots of money

Is 210F really abnormally high?
Is the radiator clogged with bugs and gunk that are reducing air flow?
Have you flushed the cooling system?

while driving, it runs a little higher than 210 when idling. I just want to make sure I don't blow a head gasket or ruin my warp my head

Re: Need help with temperature being so high
But I'm getting plenty of heat like should. I ran the heat this weekend at night when it was a bit cool and the temp still didn't go down. I'll try it, but I just don't see how that could be effective.

If you did not bleed the system after replacing the radiator, then a little bit of air may be trapped in the system. This air might be slightly reducing flow of coolant into and out of the radiator. This could possibly raise the coolant temp when the engine is hot. Bleeding is pretty easy and definitely worth a try.

Okay, was your fan not running? I know mine is, but how long should it run for I guess a few minutes?

okay, ran the car for a few minutes the temperature got hot quick got to 210 and no fan, so I bought a fan switch. I'm going to try that and see what happens. Also bleed it too it made it a little better runs just a bit below 210

Re: Need help with temperature being so high
put a new switch in, didn't help the case at all. However I think it is now the thermostat because I turn on the heat and the temperature drops to about 190.

If you have a bleeder bolt where the upper radiator hose meets the block, be sure to loosen it and let coolant flow out until there are no bubbles.
Turn the heater lever/**** to max heat, top off the coolant in the radiator and reservoir, start the engine, and install the radiator cap loosely.
Let the engine idle until the radiator fan comes on twice. This may take 20-30 minutes. Turn engine off.
Top off the radiator with coolant again and install the radiator cap tightly.
Done.
