Default Need help on D16

I have a coupe with a d16y8 and have a intake header exhaust intake manifold

my question is what other bolt on stuff would you recommened other than a turbo to get some more power that I can feel.....


I would like to pass smog so plz state what mod would pass smog and what wont.....all help is wanted

I live in a place that doesn't deal with smog so im not sure but to make more power a Bigger Throttle Body, Bigger Injectors, Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator, a Wide Band Fuel Gauge and a Tune

Sorry, but those are poor suggestions for his setup. He'd actually lose power and run overly rich, and the larger throttle body would hurt his airflow.

I recommend a stage 1 cam. It may set you back a little bit, but it will make a much bigger difference than if you nickel and dime all these little parts that net you nothing in return.

I dont mind spending on a cam what would you recommened?

how about skunk? and would you get a cam gear? other than that if I were to add those two things what else would you say

you pretty much have all you'll find for that motor as far as decent bolt-ons. unless you concider a cam, flywheel, pistons and rods, and so on bolt-ons. i don't.

to "feel" it a smartly re-geared transmission will do the trick. this is a lot of work though. you could look into ECU's and conversion harnesses to fit a chipped ecu.

check these guys out ( http://www.akmee.com ) they have a great z6/y8 kit that should liven things up in the head.

If you're not willing to crack the engine open and increase the compression, then I also suggest a slightly more aggressive cam. Don't get anything too wild in this case.

Nitrous oxide is a great way to get a boost in power, but installation is a little more than a bolt-on affair. I don't know how much luck you'll have with smog though...

Look into the Zex/comp cams.

I would also look into a lightened flywheel.

Anymore money and I would suggest some sort of forced induction.

When I installed my MSD SCI box and Blaster SS coil ,Pro cap and wires, smoother idle, much much better response above 4k-4500rpm. Going from the stock inductive type to a capacative discharge type is a no brainer in my book, unless your not a high rev enthusiast.

And as the above post, the jackson kit is a definate noticable upgrade, speaking from experience here. Although, I'm against the fmu and tricking the map sensor/piggyback controllers. If you plan on tuning the jackson kit, you can really harness the power effectively. If you get it for cheap, its worth it, if you have to spend retail, not worth it in my book.

An upgraded ignition system is only needed for very serious builds. The stock ignition system is capable of supporting over 400whp and 9000rpm engine speeds.

Don't forget Lightning Bolt spark plugs and plenty of V-tech fluid.

C'mon man - Wide Band Fuel Gauge? What company makes those? Are they for a wide range of different fuels?
