Alcohol cleans fuel system.
Yes you can add some because it will act as a detergent but it will not make you pass emissions.
Maybe if your Fuel injectors were dirty it might help.

If alcohol works like a fuel injector cleaner....you might not pass emissions. When ever I used that bottled cleaner stuff, my car stunk!! and it liked to blow out nasty smoke.
Is that safe?? rubbing alcohol - gas tank
what would the ratio be if you mixed it??
Just curious casue I have never heard about that.
No emissions test here ... ha ha ... and I wouldn't pass!!

Yes it will help, alcohol burns cleaner than gas does. The result will be cleaner exhaust gases escaping your muffler. Also be sure to have the car warmed up before the test.

Or just always run Chevron Supreme which contains Techron. There is a reason the gas stations besides Chevron sell this stuff even though it says "Chevron" on it. Because Chevron has the patent on it and there is nothing better.
And I've never heard of the rubbing alcohol thing. I've always been told to just run alcohol or av-fuel.
