Need B16 Assistence ASAP... car sounds like it's gonna blow up.
Damn tech people are too slow for responses...
Hey guys. My buddy ported his intake manifold and throttle body himself yesterday, and today he put it back on. The car sounds like it's gonna blow up. It was idleing between 1000-3500 rapidly. And after messing around with the fast idle sulenoid and the throttle body, the car immediatley revvs to redline when it starts up. Anyone have any idea what sensor is shot? It's not tripping code. Could it be some metal shavings got in the engine? What damage would that do? Thanks for your help.

Checked em all. Also, when he turns of the car, it sounds really bad on wind-down... kinda has a lingering clanking noise like its flooded or something.

This was running open-throttlebody. Why, does it sound like a bent/stuck valve?

I once switched the maf and tps sensors and it was sounding terrible, didn't idle right, and did not throw a code. I would check all the sensors, if you don't know what plug it is, the check the wire color and compare it to a wiring diagram.

This is my del sol he is talking about.
Symptoms:
When it is started it Revs UNGODLY high (5-6k rpm), I am forced to shut it off.
It comes to a hard stop.
This started after we pulled the intake mani off. We sanded out the throttle body and manifold stacks. Then we rinsed the whole thing out, dried it and replaced it. At first it was idleing quicky, but then I found that a plug was left of the IACV (Idle Air Control Valve) This was tripping code. I figured that was the problem, so I put it back in. As soon as i put it in, the Check engine went off, and the RPM's started JUMPING HIGH!
We swapped out my IACV and my Throttle Body with those from my Friend's Civic SI, but the problem is the same. I think this eliminates the Throttle body sensors as well as the IACV sensor as the culprit.
My next guess might be a stuck injector, but someone told me that an injector never gets stuck open. Also, if this was the case, how come when I unplug any other sensor (thus tripping code and forcing my ecu to safe mode) does the RPM's lower and just idle speratically?
I know this is a long explanation, but very important... my chilton is not specific to a B16 del sol, so it is almost useless. Please help!

Did your friend widen the throttle body internally without using a bigger throttle plate? Is there a gap inside the throttle body, allowing excessive amounts of air to pass through?
