the n00bish spark plug question...
Ok, I have a 2000 Civic Si with 36xxx miles on it...Now a few of my friends are recomending to get some new spark plugs due to mileage and what not and it could run a lot better or some ****...Now I did a search but didn't really find what I was looking for...Are regular spark plugs that cost 2 bucks from pep boys just as good as the iridium ones that cost like 50 bucks? What would be the benifit of getting those crazy iridium spark plugs vs. the stock ones?
i just replaced my plugs. i put in the honda platinum's (what the 99-00 si's call for)
there 18.95 each so about 80.00 all together i ran alot better when i put them in

I wouldn't recommend the iridium ones, they are a waste of money unless your car is extremely modified, in which case you might be able to gain some power.
I replaced mine with bosch platinums, they work fine.
I have also heard great things about NGK V-power plugs, which is what i use in my conquest.
If you want to shell out hella cash, do the oem ones, honda makes them that way for a reason, oem is usually the best, and also most expensive option for that kind of thing.

difference between the expensive iridum/platinums is that they are able to run for extended periods of time without any change thus used on a new car. as far as performance nothing beats a cheap copper plugs, which offers better spark and alot more room when it comes to tuning.
just go out and get some regular copper NGKs or Denso's or AC delcos. and stay away from platinum/iridium.

Spark plugs for my brothers VW Corrado are Bosch Platinums and are like 18.00.
Those are the only ones he can use or the car will run like doodo

I would think it makes sense to use OEM plugs, the exact same ones that came in the car from the factory. Look around and see if you can find cheaper prices. $18.95 a plug? You sure about that?
Ive got those NGK V plugs right now....got em one step colder and am waiting on my turbo kit to come in. Ill let you know how they work for me!
