mysterious hole in B18C that has me stumped
the blocks out of a GSR and i noticed on the B18a the casting is the same but the hole is plugged by aluminum thats cast into it, not by a soft plug. On the B18C it is wide open, i believe it is connected to the head to pan oil galley. Can i put a soft plug in it and call it good, or does it serve come function for something that i am unaware of.

ok, so im assuming it can be plugged without any issues other than maybe some extra pressure through the PCV?

He is correct, if you want to plug it off you will have to do a catch can set up. Most kits you buy come with a plug for there, some kits actually come with a drain fitting. Either way YES it is plug able IF you have a properlly Routed PCV system, VIA catch can set-ups ETC.

Re: mysterious hole in B18C that has me stumped
I do have a catch can. so if i put a soft plug in that hole, then run a hose from the pcv fitting on the valve to a catch can, then from the catch can back to the manifold then that would be acceptable?

i would highly recommend you search through some of the pcv and oil catch can threads if you are going to change from a stock breather system
There is some detailed info regard this in the site

that may not be anough ventilation , look into running 2 , lines from the valve cover to a catch can. size would be -10 or so.

If your not running the OEM catch can, then definitely do some research. You do not vent from the valve cover to the intake. Here's how it normally works:
You will want to mimic a kit something like this one:

The OBD1-2 LS has the PCV and breather directly on the valve cover. We just did a LS/VTEC, I just used an ls grommet and pcv valve on the valve cover. I like the oil cooler.

Its the oil/vapor separator. Part of the PCV system. Just get one from a junkyard, a new o-ring, pcv valve , hose and grommet and install it. Itll be a factory set-up.

Re: mysterious hole in B18C that has me stumped
Ok so i think i have my problem solved and i have a solution for the PCV. I plugged the open hole and replaced the two plugs on the sides of the oil filter with threaded fitting off of the old B18b block and will T those two together and fun them up to another T with a hose from the fitting onthe valve cover, then run that hose to a catch can and then run that to the intake. Does that sound like a good plan?

last time it was dynoed before it popped it was at 350whp on 18 psi. and i dont have the stock breather box or i would indeed use that. and i already have a catch can/ air oil seperator. Is the setup i mentioned above sufficient?
