My SOHC ZC
Hey ya after doin some under the hood checking out I found a funny problem that I never realized after having a car for almost 2 years. This was my first civic with the VTEC motor so maybe I just never knew what to expect.
My vtec hasnt been working.
I have a 98 Civic DX which came with the D15B, but when i bought the car it already had a ZC Vtec motor installed. And after looking at my vtec solinoid the green wire coming out of it is about 3 inches long and cut, not connecting to anything, I would imagine this means vtec isnt hooked up. Im guessing the motor was swapped in and maybe the old ECU from the D15B was left in and that prevented them from even hooking up the Vtec.
Im wondering if thats possible... to run a D15B ecu on my ZC Vtec motor or is that not even possible.
If it is possible im looking into replacing the ecu with a correct one or just "re-chip" it
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ZWDVW like so
One other thing... what does that wire coming out of the solinoid goto?

Can i just rechip the old ecu? Or will a new one have to be installed?</TD></TR></TABLE>
your gonna need to pick up an ECU, either a P2P from a '96 - '98 EX coupe or a P28 from a '92 - '95 EX/Si, you will need an adapter harness for the later ECU and it probably wont pass emissions if that happens to be a concern for you, the former plugs right in.

Cool cool
Emissions can suck my big TX ***** btw ;p
I was thinking of getting a JDM ecu since it is a JDM motor and ive heard the vtec kicks on at like 4800 instead of the 5200 like the us versions.
