My EJ2 suggestions please
hello, im sort of new to honda tech and new to JDM, i got an EJ2 about 3 months ago i've done a few things to it, i'd like to know ur suggestions and opinions on it, i also bought a vtec head b16 i dont know alot about hondas so im learning, first off i bought a vtec head and ECU p28 for 430, is that a good price???, the guy told me it has to be resurfaced i heard thats bad that the head is messed up if it needs to be resurfaced, is this true? what do i need to make it vtec, about how much will i spend on top of what ive already spent, how much does resurfacing cost approx??? and how much should i pay someone to put it on and convert my 99 LS b18, i will add more pix later, and opinions on whether i should put the GSR fat fives painted purple, or equip -03's

welcome to honda-tech, all your answers will be found here... the p28 and the head imo (in my opinion) was a nice come up. and i get my head resurfaced for 30 bucks at my local head working shop.. and jsut get the head resurfaced and rebuilt, and to make it vtec you will need to run a couple of wires and buy the ls-vtec kit.

welcome, you will need to get an lsvtec kit, I have found out the golden eagle one is worth every penney. You even get the Dowel pins. Dont waste the money on the cheap ebay kits the oil line looks like the water line that goes to your toilet in your house. lol. just kidding, it does look similar, and the line leaks and the sandwhich plate has a hard time sealing. I would fo sure go with the works. the fat fives are overdone. I will say the purple gives them a nice touch tho.

I say put on the GSRs and sell me the equip copies....JK decent start on ur car. I would say a little cleaning up of the exterior will make it look cleaner.

Lemme have them GSR's! lol
The LS/Vtec swap isn't a hard thing. I believe its the most common swap. You can pull your head within about 30 minutes if you know how to turn a wrench. get a new head gasket and studs (don't know if honda's stretch or not) put the B16 head on with the new gasket, studs and always a new timing belt. Timing is always easy to do. And re connect all the wires. You can run the car like this so you wont have to worry about vtec right away. But if the head has the solenoid and what nots, I believe just plug up your P28, run the wires for Vtec to the proper area's, and go. And I know there are tons of how to's all over the web. Just Search.
