My Coupe build project
So I've lurked on here quite awhile, used this site to solve many problems, so have now decided to start my build. I picked up a 94 Civic coupe with 228K km on 50$ with a blown head gasket. Replaced the HG(D16y8 MLS), Waterpump, timing belt and new tensioner. Bartered for a set of projector headlights, and foglights (JDM OEMs not knockoffs); Aquired my buddy's old d16A6 CRX motor, and a 99 D16Y8 head with ARP studs and a skunk two cam. I'm looking at going boost over the winter. What would be a better route, Vitara's with Eagles or JE's with Eagles? I'm not looking for more than 300whp. Anything higher will be left to a H22 Stroker setup I'm building for the 2012 track season.

Congrats on your honda purchase. Did you pick up the car for 50 bucks you say or 500 lol
You are starting off good except that i'd get a d16z6 head instead of the y8....airflow is so much better on the z6's because of the port style difference between them. y8's were built to comply with new emissions
As far as the a6 bottom end, from what i've been told by various engine builders and tuners, the a6 bottom end is the best dseries bottom end honda ever built
I would get a Z6 head, throw a 59300 zex cam in it with upgraded valve train, throw some vitara pistons with FJRspec custom length rods. (eagles work, but you get significant C:R loss due to how deep the vitara pistons sit in the block). i'd also get a golden eagle blockguard, arp headstuds and a new felpro mls headgasket
upgrade you fuel and ignition systems and you will have a dseries build capable of 450whp depending on how good the tuner is.........all this can be done for i'd say 2500 bucks or less....i built my bottom end and did the fuel system and did an msd ignition for around a grand

Re: My Coupe build project
Yes, I did pick my car up for 50$ CAD. All told, I have 300$ CAD into it, and that includes what I've now discovered is a Z6 head (P08-4 is the casting number 1 bolt is different next to the vtec solenoid) and intake manifold, ARP head studs and a skunk 2 cam (so I've been told). For ignition mods what do you reccomemnd? I have a Aeromotive 1000 and 13109 FPR, for fuel and some Bosch 36lb Green tops (High Impedence). I thinking on S300 for management. I'll look into the block guard and FJRspec rods.

No opinions on ignition or fuel system mods? Just wondering what other people are using on a daily 300whp vehicle.
